Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and the operator of MeshSail (“MeshSail”, “we”, “us”). MeshSail is an independent project operated by a single person and is not, at present, an incorporated company. By creating an account, connecting a repository, or otherwise using MeshSail(the “Service”), you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Who can use MeshSail

You must be at least 18 years old to create or hold an account. We ask for your date of birth at signup and enforce this in our database, not only in the form. If we learn that an account holder is under 18, we will close the account.

You must provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and you are responsible for all activity under your account. One person, one account. You are responsible for making sure your use of the Service is lawful where you live.

2. What the Service does, and does not do

MeshSail reads a source-code repository you connect and runs an automated review for issues such as bugs, scaling limits, user-experience gaps, backend inefficiency, and security weaknesses. It then proposes changes. When you approve them, it opens a pull request on a new branch of your repository for you to review.

MeshSail is an aid, not a guarantee. It does not certify that your code is correct, secure, performant, or fit for any purpose. An automated audit can miss real problems and can report things that are not problems. You are solely responsible for reviewing, testing, and deciding whether to merge any change it proposes. The Service never merges a pull request and never commits to your default branch on its own.

Nothing the Service produces is legal, financial, security-certification, or other professional advice. Any notes it gives about legal or compliance matters are general information only.

3. Your model API key and its costs

Audits run on a model API key you supply from your own provider account. You are responsible for that key and for complying with your provider's own terms. We use your key only to run audits and the related features you trigger, we store it encrypted, and we never display it back to you in full. See the Privacy Policy for details on storage.

All charges your model provider bills for use of your key are solely your responsibility. MeshSail is not a party to your relationship with that provider, does not set or receive those charges, and will not reimburse or be liable for them. Cost figures the Service shows you are rough estimates, not quotes, and actual usage can be higher — including from a large repository, a high-effort or long-running audit, or a run you leave configured to repeat. You are responsible for setting any spending limits with your provider and for monitoring your own usage.

4. Connecting GitHub and the changes we open

To audit a repository you install our GitHub App on the repositories you choose and grant it the permissions it requests (reading repository contents, and opening pull requests). You control which repositories it can see, and you can change or revoke that access at any time from your GitHub settings.

By connecting a repository you authorize MeshSail to:

• read the repository's files and metadata in order to run an audit you start;
• create a new branch and open a pull request containing proposed changes, but only for findings you have explicitly approved; and
• read a file again when applying an approved change to that file.

MeshSail will not push directly to your default branch, will not merge any pull request, and will not change your repository settings. You are responsible for the access you grant, for reviewing every pull request before merging, and for ensuring you have the right to connect and modify the repository. Only connect repositories you own or are authorized to change.

5. Your code and content

You keep all ownership of your repositories, the descriptions, notes, context, and files you enter, attach, or upload, and everything the Service produces about your project (“Your Content”). We claim no ownership of it.

The Service lets you attach or upload files (for example a README, notes, or a configuration file) to give an audit more context. You may do this as part of using the Service, and anything you attach or upload is Your Content.

You grant MeshSail a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, store, and process Your Content solely to operate and secure the Service for you, which includes sending relevant portions of your code to the model provider whose key you supplied so the audit can run. We do not sell Your Content, and we do not use it to train machine-learning models. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies kept briefly in routine backups.

If you enter a test account or other credentials in a project's context, you are responsible for using a disposable, low-privilege account and never a real user's or an administrator's credentials.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• audit, probe, or attack a repository or system you do not own or are not authorized to test;
• break the law, infringe anyone's rights, or violate a third party's terms;
• interfere with, overload, reverse engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure; or
• resell or provide the Service to others in a way these Terms do not permit.

We may suspend or close an account that violates this section, or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the Service or other people.

7. Fees

MeshSail is free while in beta, apart from the model-provider charges you pay directly to your own provider. We may introduce paid features in the future. If we do, we will make the pricing clear before you are charged, and paid features will be optional.

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties, including GitHub, the model provider whose key you supply, and our hosting, database, and background-job providers. Your use of those services through MeshSail is also subject to their terms, and we are not responsible for their acts, omissions, availability, or charges.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will find, or correctly fix, any particular issue in your code. You use the Service, and rely on its output, at your own risk.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MeshSail and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, data, code, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including any change it proposed or any issue it failed to find. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months before the claim, or ten US dollars (US$10). For clarity, amounts you pay your model provider are not amounts paid to us and are excluded from this cap.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MeshSail and its operator from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, Your Content, the repositories you connect, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your account settings, which removes your projects, audits, findings, and stored keys as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnification) will survive.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we make a material change, we will update the date below and ask you to accept the new version before you continue using the Service. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the operator's place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts there for any dispute that is not resolved informally. This is a starting point, and the specific jurisdiction should be confirmed with counsel.
